Teacher Support

Teachers are the best way to assist students in achieving academic success as they are the experts in the content area, they have assigned the work, and they know specifically what will be on the test and quizzes. Teachers are available Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday until at least 3:10 p.m.  Many teachers are available before school. Students should schedule appointments with teachers before or after school.

Academic Success

Students should prepare for academic success by:

• using an electronic or school calendar every day to list daily assignments plus any upcoming tests, quizzes, projects, and papers.  Marked assignments when completed.
• creating a nightly schedule for completing homework, reviewing content, and studying for tests.
• checking Infinite Campus regularly to keep current with missing or incomplete assignments.  Contact Melanie Strom for password or login assistance.

Math Lab

Selected students will be scheduled in the Math Lab for specific periods/days for academic support (T/Th or M/W/F). In addition, any student may access the Math Lab during their study hall. A certified math teacher will be available during most hours of the school day. Schedules for the assigned math teacher for Math Lab are posted in the teacher’s classrooms. Teachers will assist students in mastering skills and knowledge necessary for achievement of appropriate standards and learning targets. Good communication between the classroom teacher and Math Lab teacher is essential for the success of the student.

Library

The Library is open from 6:45 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Students are welcome to use the library for all types of activities.  Students are able to check out paper books, eBooks and audiobooks; access print and online resources; receive instruction to effectively use the resources; and find welcoming places for individual study and collaborative work.

Various tutoring opportunities are available in the library during the school day.  To connect with a tutor or to volunteer to be a tutor, please see a teacher or library staff. 

ASAP After School Academic Program

The After School Academic Program, ASAP, is a tutoring program for 9th grade students which monitors student progress, reduces student failures and increases communication among teachers, parents, administrators, guidance counselors and support staff. Students can be referred by parents, teachers, and school counselors, or they can voluntarily attend whenever they may need extra help.  The program meets on the following days from 2:30 - 3:30 pm in Room 288.

Tutoring Resources (external to MHS)

Tutoring resources outside of Muskego High School are available. The Muskego-Norway School District does not endorse or recommend any of these specific resources.  It is your responsibility to contact the individual and/or agency to determine if the services provided will be appropriate for your child.  

Spanish Tutoring

The Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica offers tutoring for students taking Spanish in our district. The tutoring is free and typically assigned by the availability of the tutor and the student requesting tutoring.

Mu Alpha Theta Tutoring

Members of Math National Honor Society, or Mu Alpha Theta, are selected based on their advanced understanding of math and ability to connect with students. Members are available to tutor students in any grade level in their math course. Students in need can be matched with Mu Alpha Theta tutors through teacher, parent, or school counselor requests.
